Week 12:  Intro to 3D printing  &  Cardboard Techniques

3D Printing

On week 12 we were a lecture on 3D printing which taught us the basics of 3D printing and types of 3D printing. We were then split into groups to create slides for a peer-teaching presentation on 3D printing. Our groups was tasked to present on slicer settings for fast printing. We learned about the factors that affect the speed of 3D printing. For example, Infill density, Part orientation and Supports. We also learned about other aspects on 3D printing through peer-teaching.

Practical 3

During practical 3, we were given a brief on different cardboard techniques and safety on handling equipment. We were shown 6 different cardboard techniques and were tasked with recreating the 6 cardboard techniques and also, to create 2 of our own cardboard techniques. For the 2 new cardboard techniques, we decided to create L-Brace and Brass fasteners. After we finished our task, we had to give a presentation on the 8 different techniques, and on why we chose these 2 extra cardboard techniques.
