Week 3: Ideation 3
SCAMPER
During the ICPD lesson in Week 3, we learnt how to use SCAMPER to narrow down our ideas and choose one that is able to fit the purpose best. SCAMPER is the framework that we used to see which idea is most suitable to do.

S stands for Substitute, in which we can remove undesirable parts of an item and replace it with a better alternative.

C stands for Combine, in which we can merge the positive aspects of two or more ideas together to achieve a different product or process that is multipurpose.

A stands for Adapt, where we adapt the purpose of the product to serve another purpose.

M stands for Modify, where we can change part of the product or distort it in an unusual way to better suit our current needs.

P stands for Put to Another Use, in which we put our current solution to serve other purposes.

E stands for Eliminate, in which we remove certain parts of the product to simplify it.

R stands for Reverse, in which a product works in reverse or in a different order than intended.
After using SCAMPER, we decided to eliminate one of our ideas which was "mask with HEPA Filter". This is because, we realise that it is not a feasible idea to carry out. Upon further consideration, we were tasked on finding the a new idea.
COWS Matrix:
Here is a brief description of our COWS Matrix. For criteria, we have decided that safety (toxicity) and cost effectiveness has the highest percentages among all criteria.

As we have a budget to work within with and to ensure that our products will not cause danger to users.
​
Base on the COWS Matrix the idea of the mini terrarium has the highest score of 360 and therefore, will be the product that we will work on.
